Chicken pox is acute communicable disease caused by a virus. This disease is caused by a virus designated virus varicella zoster. It is world wide in distribution, and occurs sporadically. This endemically and epidemically spreading disease has already caused several lives all around the world in state of bother. Chickenpox causes several serious complications that have even brought loss of lives. These complications imbibe several manifestations when they progress through the body. There are several chickenpox causes that are being scoped in the subsequent paragraph.

• Agent:
The virus of chickenpox is antigenically similar to the virus of herpes zoster. The source of infection is case of chickenpox; the virus is present in oropharyngeal secretions, lesions of the skin and mucous membrane and blood. The period of infectivity is for about a week, commencing probably a day before the appearance of the rash. The patient ceases to be infectious once the lesions have crusted. The virus has not been demonstrated in chicken pox crusts.
• Host:
Chickenpox occurs mostly in children under the age of 10 years. No age, however is exempt. One attack gives durable immunity: second attacks are extremely rare. Sub- clinical attacks are also reported.
• Environment:
The disease shows a seasonal increase in trend, with cases of chickenpox normally overlaps with that of symptoms of smallpox. Environmental conditions play a major role in spreading of the disease. The spread of disease should be diagnosed in the initial stage itself else; it may lead to serious complications.
